PDFly is built on a simple principle: your files are yours. Unlike traditional online PDF tools that upload your documents to remote servers for processing, PDFly performs all file processing entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. This means your files never touch our servers.

This privacy policy explains what limited information we do collect to keep the service running and how we protect it.

2. Your Files

We do not upload, store, or have access to your files. When you use any PDFly tool:

• Your files are loaded directly into your browser's memory
• All processing (merging, splitting, compressing, converting, OCR, etc.) happens locally using WebAssembly
• Processed files are generated in your browser and offered as a download
• No file data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party server
• When you close the tab or navigate away, all file data is cleared from memory

3. Data We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide and improve the service:

Information You Provide

• Contact form submissions: Name, email, and message when you contact us
• Tool recommendations: Tool name, description, and your email if provided
• Newsletter subscriptions: Email address only

Automatically Collected

• Basic analytics: Page views, tool usage counts, and approximate location (country/city level) — no personally identifiable information
• Technical data: Browser type, operating system, and screen size for compatibility improvements
• Preference data: Theme preference (light/dark) stored locally in your browser

4. Cookies & Local Storage

PDFly uses minimal local storage and does not use tracking cookies:

• Theme preference: Stored in localStorage to remember your light/dark mode choice
• Essential cookies: Only if required by our analytics provider, and only with your consent
• No advertising cookies: We do not run ads and do not share data with ad networks

You can clear all local data at any time through your browser settings.

5. Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are most used and how to improve the service. Our analytics:

• Do not track individual users across sessions
• Do not collect file names, contents, or types
• Are aggregated and anonymized
• Respect Do Not Track (DNT) browser settings

6. Third-Party Services

PDFly integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Analytics provider: Collects aggregated, anonymized usage data
• Email service: Used to send newsletter and transactional emails

Important: No third party ever has access to your PDF files, as all processing is client-side.

7. Children's Privacy

PDFly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Depending on your location (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have the following rights:
