Core Principles

Security by Architecture, Not Promise

Security by architecture — your data physically cannot reach our servers.

Client-Side Processing

Every PDF tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to any server — they never leave your device.

Zero Data Collection

We don't collect, store, or transmit your file data. No file metadata, no processing logs, no analytics on your documents. What happens in your browser stays in your browser.

No File Uploads

Unlike iLovePDF, Smallpdf, and other competitors that require uploading your files to their servers, PDFly processes everything locally. Your sensitive documents remain completely private.

No Session Tracking

We don't track which tools you use, what files you process, or how long you spend on each task. Your activity is invisible to us by design.

Technical Deep Dive

Four Layers of Protection

Independent layers ensure your data stays private at every level.

1

Browser Sandbox

All processing runs inside your browser's security sandbox, which isolates our code from the rest of your system. This prevents any unauthorized access to your files or device.

2

WebAssembly Execution

PDF processing is handled by compiled WebAssembly modules that run at near-native speed within the browser sandbox. No external calls are made during processing.

3

No Network Requests

Once the page loads, no network requests are made during file processing. You can verify this by opening your browser's Network tab in DevTools while using any tool.

4

Memory-Only Processing

Files are loaded into your browser's memory for processing and are discarded when you close the tab. Nothing is written to disk, cached, or persisted in any way.

How We Compare

PDFly vs. Server-Based Tools

Why client-side processing is fundamentally more secure than server uploads.

PDFly

Client-Side
  • Files processed in your browser
  • No file uploads to any server
  • Works offline after page load
  • No file size limits or caps
  • No tracking or analytics on files

Server-Based Tools

Server-Side
  • Files uploaded to remote servers
  • Files stored on server temporarily
  • Requires internet connection
  • File size limits and daily caps
  • Usage tracking and analytics

Verify It Yourself

You don't have to take our word for it. Open your browser's Developer Tools (F12), go to the Network tab, and use any PDFly tool. You'll see zero network requests during file processing — confirming that everything happens locally in your browser.

1 Open Developer Tools (F12)
2 Go to the Network tab
3 Process a PDF with any tool
4 See zero network requests
